Sōsetsu Kazahana is the former daimyō of the Land of Snow and the father of Koyuki, a kind ruler who poured his nation's fortune into a dream of bringing spring to a land locked in endless winter.
Sōsetsu's black hair is long and receding, and his large, dark eyes sit behind round-framed glasses. His usual dress is the formal attire of a daimyō.
Everything points to Sōsetsu having been a gentle ruler, a warm man, and a devoted father, one whose subjects held on to their loyalty long after he was gone. His great ambition was to bring spring to his frozen homeland, a goal he chased even though the cost of building the generator that would make it possible nearly emptied the treasury and bankrupted the entire country.
Sōsetsu often told his daughter about the beauty of spring, a season she had never known in the perpetually frozen Land of Snow. Determined to change that, he built a climate-warming generator financed by the whole of the national treasury together with his clan's wealth, an invention that came to be called the Kazahana treasure. A hexagonal crystal served as the key that would switch it on and turn the icy country into a place of blossoms. He made his home in the grand Kazahana Castle, but his ambitions were destroyed when his brother Dotō set the castle on fire and killed everyone inside. Dotō seized power over the Land of Snow while chasing a treasure whose true nature he did not understand, and Sōsetsu's daughter Koyuki alone survived, fleeing with the vital hexagonal crystal.
His death cast a long shadow over Koyuki, who hardened into a cold and outwardly unfeeling woman for the next ten years, waving off her father's dreams of spring as empty lies. Her guard only cracked when the generator finally fulfilled his vision and delivered spring to the Land of Snow, a transformation that moved her deeply even as it enraged Dotō, who was furious to learn the coveted treasure was nothing more than a machine. Sōsetsu's death also stoked Sandayū Asama's bitter resentment of Dotō, and Sandayū's attempt to avenge his lord ultimately failed. His clan name carries the meaning snowflake, while his given name means early snow.

The transformation everyone knows, the follow-up question nobody would touch. Why we made a smooth R&B track about the golden glow Dragon Ball never talks about....
