Appearance

The creature manifests as an enormous purple catfish given arms and a spread of many crab-like legs. Yellow eyes and long barbels sit on its head, and a large green beaded necklace hangs at its throat above patterned markings across its body. Most unsettling of all is a second mouth set above the first, between its jaws and its eyes.

Personality

The Spirit Beast is less a character than a malevolent force. Its defining trait is the wielding of foul chakra to seize command of others' actions, bending those around it toward destruction.

History

The beast began as an ordinary giant catfish with the unusual gift of moulding chakra, until it was sealed away deep in a cave within the Valley of Evil. Genshō and his followers broke that seal, and the creature loosed a dark fog that poisoned the minds of any who entered it, a haze that within seven days would spread as far as Konohagakure. Genshō meant to use it to level the world and rebuild civilisation with himself enthroned as ruler. Naruto, joined by shinobi from Suna and Konoha, tried to reseal the demon using the five spirit mirrors, but the plan failed when Genshō made a final gambit and fused his own body with the beast. The combined monster was fought, beaten, and left presumed destroyed. Like the Master Puppet, Three-Heads, and the Zero-Tails, it bears no true name and is regarded as a colossal weapon capable of mass devastation.
