Appearance

Short, spiky brown hair sat above dark patches ringing his eyes, and like every Akimichi he had a stout, powerful frame and the clan's customary swirl marks on his cheeks. As a young man he dressed in the standard black bodysuit under a grey breastplate whose faulds guarded his thighs, with arm guards, a hat-shaped forehead protector, and a bandage-slung pouch at his back. By the time of the Nine-Tails' rampage, older now, he had switched to a more modern armour bearing his clan's obligatory kanji for food and carried a staff together with a broad shield shaped like a sake cup.

History

After the village's founding he trained in a class that included Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokado, and he looked on as Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzo Shimura prepared to spar. During the First Shinobi World War he rode with Tobirama's Escort Unit, and when the Kinkaku Force closed in and Kagami reasoned that someone had to lure them off, Torifu bluntly named the role for what it was, a sacrifice; he stood among the comrades who heard Tobirama declare Hiruzen the Third Hokage. Living through that encounter with the Kinkaku Force turned him into a shinobi renowned across the ninja world.

As an Akimichi he could turn calories into chakra to power his clan's hidden techniques, and he fought capably with his staff and shield, though the full scope of his skills went unrecorded. Decades later he joined Hiruzen, Homura, Koharu, and other ninja in confronting the Nine-Tails after it was loosed on Konoha, pressing the attack as Hiruzen called for the beast to be driven beyond the village limits.
