Kagami Uchiha

Kagami is a fair-skinned man whose short, black hair sits tousled over his forehead protector and frames his face, though the anime renders it a touch tidier. In the First Shinobi World War his equipment is the era's Konoha kit: a black bodysuit under grey plating across the chest, shoulders, and thighs, arm guards, leg chainmail, a kunai holster on one thigh, and a bandage-wrapped pouch at the back. Away from the battlefield he dresses in the clan's usual style, a dark shirt buttoned to a high collar.

Two loyalties define Kagami, one to his clan and a fierce other to the safety of Konoha, and he gives a great deal in the village's service. That devotion runs deep enough to spare him the Curse of Hatred that so often grips Uchiha after they awaken the Sharingan, which is why both Danzō and Tobirama count him among the few Uchiha they trust. Tobirama goes so far as to place him among a handful of shinobi working directly beneath him, and observers would later liken his dedication to Itachi's.

In the anime, Kagami numbers among the earliest Academy graduates and befriends Hiruzen Sarutobi and Danzō Shimura, whose life his dōjutsu saves more than once. When the First Shinobi World War breaks out, he rides with the Escort Unit guarding the Second Hokage, only for the group to be cornered by Kumogakure's Kinkaku Squad. When Koharu proposes an ambush, Kagami argues instead for a decoy to draw the enemy off, and he watches as the Second Hokage volunteers for that role and names Hiruzen the Third Hokage.

Kagami eventually becomes a father and dies at twenty-five. His Sharingan grants him the clan's signature gifts, from reading chakra and seeing through genjutsu to copying techniques, and Shisui, a celebrated prodigy of the Mangekyō, openly ranks himself below his forebear. Through Shisui, Kagami's Will of Fire outlives him in place of the Uchiha's hatred.
