Tsurugi

He wore his black hair long, paired with a full beard and a scar marking his left eye. His gear was that of a standard Kirigakure ninja, a flak jacket, shinobi sandals, and a black forehead protector, topped by the mask that marked him as a hunter-nin.

As the leader of Kiri's hunter-nin, Tsurugi ranked among the village's most capable shinobi, though little of his full strength was ever shown. He commanded Water Release and could conjure rain around himself to vanish inside it. His stealth was sharp enough to catch even a seasoned Konoha Anbu off guard, and like the rest of his unit he carried a tanto on his back, a sign of his training in kenjutsu.

Level-headed by temperament, Tsurugi preferred talking to fighting. When his hunters caught up with Utakata and Hotaru, who had just slipped away from the Magaki Group, Team 7 stepped in to defend them, and Yamato tried to negotiate. Tsurugi agreed to speak privately, promising to release Hotaru and to hold off capturing Utakata until Team 7 had finished its mission. Alone with Utakata, he argued that the young man's late master had only meant to free him from his tailed beast and urged him to return to Kirigakure, but Utakata would not be swayed. Tsurugi withdrew, warning that his unit would keep watch. When Utakata later went looking for him to weigh those words, Tsurugi and his men instead met their end when Pain's Giant Multi-Headed Dog, the Animal Path, fell upon them; all Utakata found afterward was his bloodstained mask.
