Tsuzura Shitakiri

Small and fair-skinned, Tsuzura has freckles scattered beneath his green eyes and a gap where a tooth is missing at the upper right of his mouth. Shaggy brown hair falls across the left half of his face, while the top is gathered into a side-ponytail on the right.

Quiet and withdrawn, Tsuzura mostly keeps to himself, a habit rooted in his mother's severe parenting. He is nonetheless kind and quick to appreciate any help he receives. Unlike his mother he adores animals and gladly tends their cages, pouring his affection into his one true friend, the hawk Yuki, whom he trains toward strength and independence. Though a lavish future has been arranged for him, it holds no appeal; what he truly wants is to attend school and learn about the world, yet he is too meek to defy his mother.

Brought up alone by his business-obsessed mother Mozu Shitakiri, Tsuzura passed his days inside her establishment with no chance to make friends. Rather than send him to school, Mozu schooled him herself to groom him as her heir, refusing even to teach him reading or writing. Somewhere along the way he rescued an injured white hawk chick and raised her as his own, naming her Yuki. His fondness for animals makes him a gifted caretaker, and he proves a fast learner, picking up better breeding methods from books and beginning to read.

During the Labyrinth Game Arc, Tsuzura is cleaning cages when he spots Boruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha doing business with his mother. Boruto, struck by Yuki, offers to help train her to hunt and to teach the illiterate boy his letters, delighting him, but Mozu dismisses his wish for school, tightens her grip, and has Yuki taken away to be sold to a taxidermist. Locked in his room, Tsuzura escapes the next day, grabs Yuki, and flees; Boruto and Sasuke shield him from Mozu's guard and wolf. Sasuke trades his own Senri Hawk for the boy and his bird, and when that hawk frees the captive animals and Mozu tries to reclaim it, Tsuzura finally stands up to her. Sasuke then delivers him to Maruta to be taken on as an apprentice, and he vows to keep in touch with Boruto.
