Yuina Itomaki

Royal blue eyes look out beneath Yuina's indigo hair, which is cut into short front bangs and long, curling strands that hang loose at either side, with the rest gathered into rounded ponytails on both sides of her head. She dresses in a white kimono fastened by a grey obi and a crimson cord, finishing the look with blue shorts and blue shinobi sandals.

Reserved and soft-spoken, Yuina is unfailingly courteous, addressing everyone with the proper honorifics. Though she rarely speaks up, her resolve to become a shinobi is firm. Around bolder companions she tends to fall in with whatever they set in motion, even when their approach clashes with her own view. Her dedication ran deep enough that she began studying a range of subjects before she had even enrolled, and she is regarded as an unusually knowledgeable girl.

During a one-day trial at the Academy, Yuina was thrilled to hear that the Hokage's daughter would attend as well. She stumbled through the physical exercises but proved her worth on a mission to recover a lost cat, catching its trail for the group. After the class escaped a hornet nest she went along with Eho when he abandoned Himawari, and the two found the cat only to tumble into a well; Himawari located them, and the trio climbed free together and became close friends. In the Chunin Re-Examination Arc she and Eho tailed a group of suspicious men to a train station and watched them abduct Amado, sending the genin into pursuit.

Once she formally entered the Academy she was delighted to share a class with Himawari and Eho, startled by the much older Kawaki joining, and amazed to learn the exchange student Kae Yukiwari was a princess. She was among the students who explored the school at night to probe its Seven Mysteries, holding out until she fainted, and her account of mistaking a paint-covered Shino for a ghost sealed the final legend. Later she helped stage a class play about the Sannin and made sure her classmates' costumes looked right. On a survival trip to a remote island, the students discovered their teacher Hana was secretly an assassin who had killed Kae; working together they tracked the pair to a cave, where Kawaki revealed himself as a shinobi and Hana's true teaching self eventually won out. With Kae returning home, the class at last performed their Sannin play and saw her off at the station.
