Himawari's Ninja Trial Session

As Himawari's family debates what she might do with her life, Hanabi assumes she will follow the Hyuga into the shinobi world, while Hinata and Boruto insist the choice is hers alone. Hanabi hands over a flyer for a single-day Academy trial, and the curious Himawari signs up. Overseen by Iruka and Shino, the class is surprised to learn the Hokage's daughter is among them. Himawari shines through the obstacle course, nearly manages to walk up a vertical wall when none of the others can, and impresses everyone at target practice, crediting the training she does with her brother.

Her skill unsettles a classmate named Eho, who wants to be her rival yet cannot stand being outdone by someone who is not even sure she wants to be a ninja. When Anko sends the group on a simple mission to find a lost cat in Senju Park, the children carry flares to call for adult help, though using one means failing the task. Iruka, missing real contact with students since becoming principal, joins Shino to quietly observe.

Frustrated by Himawari's hesitation, Eho hurls a rock that strikes a hornet nest, sending the swarm after the group before they scatter. Iruka and Shino reassure Himawari that it is fine not to know her path yet, and their words push her to keep going. Eho and Yuina track down the cat but tumble into a well, and Himawari uses her Byakugan to find them. When Eho stubbornly reaches for his flare rather than accept help, Himawari drops into the well herself to stop him and urge him not to quit, and the three brace against one another to climb free.

Eho apologizes for his cold treatment of her, even asking her to hit him as penance while the watching teachers look on, pleased. Back home, Himawari tells her mother and brother that the day made her want to learn about all sorts of jobs, and she insists that Boruto help her explore them.

This installment is part of the Boruto anime. It aired in Japan on April 26, 2020, and in English on November 23, 2021. It was the last finished episode to broadcast in Japan before the series paused for the COVID-19 pandemic, returning roughly three months later on July 5, 2020. The opening theme is Starting and Growing and the ending theme is Maybe I.
