Episode 154 of Naruto: Shippuden breaks Jiraiya's dying cipher by way of his own novels, sending Naruto off to Mount Myōboku to start the senjutsu training that will finally let him avenge his fallen master.
Poring over the cipher his teacher left, Naruto spots that the mark everyone took for a "9" is really the katakana "ta" rendered in Jiraiya's odd hand, a detail only he could catch from having read the man's stories. The Cryptanalysis Team decides the note was addressed to Naruto and that its other digits mark page numbers in the Icha Icha books. Much to Kakashi's chagrin, he must read passages from the racy volumes aloud until the buried message surfaces: the genuine one is not among them.
Passed along to Fukasaku, the cracked message ties back to Jiraiya's earlier observation that none of Pain's Six Paths resembled Nagato. Fukasaku wins Tsunade's leave to take Naruto to Mount Myōboku for Sage Mode training, and Naruto, burning to avenge Jiraiya, agrees and is reverse summoned there by Gamakichi. Reflecting on the Great Toad Sage's prophecy, which foresaw both Jiraiya's novels and their hand in cracking the cipher, Tsunade resolves to place her faith in the toad's foretelling, accepting Naruto as the prophesied child.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
At Mount Myōboku, Fukasaku lays out the groundwork of senjutsu with Gamakichi paraphrasing for the young ninja, then drops the grim catch: to take in natural energy, Naruto must first perish. Naruto learns Gamakichi summoned him because toads can call on humans bound to them by blood contract. Drawing on chapters 407 through 409, the episode falls in Pain's Assault arc and carries the opening A World That Was Transparent alongside the ending Bicycle.
The numbers in Jiraiya's dying cipher mark page numbers in his own Icha Icha novels; the Cryptanalysis Team and Naruto use them to locate the hidden lines of his real message once they realize the digit everyone read as a "9" is actually the katakana "ta" in Jiraiya's handwriting.
Naruto recognizes that the mark mistaken for a "9" is really the katakana "ta" written in Jiraiya's distinctive hand, a detail only he could catch from reading his teacher's novels, letting the Cryptanalysis Team match the remaining digits to page numbers in the Icha Icha books.
Jiraiya's decoded message ties back to his observation that none of Pain's Six Paths resembled Nagato, a clue that helps confirm Naruto as the child of prophecy and leads Tsunade to send him to Mount Myoboku for training.
To Kakashi's chagrin, he must read passages aloud from Jiraiya's Icha Icha novels because the Cryptanalysis Team believes the code's digits point to specific pages, and reading them out is how the buried message finally surfaces.
At the end of "Decryption," Naruto is reverse summoned by Gamakichi to Mount Myoboku, where Fukasaku wins Tsunade's approval to begin training him in Sage Mode so he can avenge Jiraiya.
