I'm in Hell

Two artificial humans nurse Obito through recovery, filling him in on Madara's aims while grating on him with crude jokes. Over long months of grueling rehabilitation, and while replaying his training days with Kakashi and Rin, Obito adapts to his new manufactured body, including a fresh right arm. One day White Zetsu brings word that his teammates are cornered by Kirigakure ninja, and when Obito cannot force his way past the rock sealing the exit, Guruguru offers his own body as armor.

Obito pulls power from the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path to smash through the stone. Madara promises to thank him properly one day and insists he will return, though Obito swears he is leaving for good.

On the way, a vision of Rin flickers through Obito's hollow eye socket, which he brushes off. He reaches the site just in time to see Kakashi drive a Chidori through Rin's chest as she breathes his name and dies. Her death ignites the Mangekyo Sharingan in both boys. Kakashi collapses, and Obito unleashes a slaughter, drawing overwhelming power from within and wielding a Wood Release cutting technique that leaves him nearly untouchable.

With the last Mist ninja impaled on the trees he raised, Obito ignores the unconscious Kakashi and goes to Rin. Switching off his Mangekyo, he stands over the scene and, grieving, bitterly decides that he is in hell.

Covering chapters 603 to 605 in the Fourth Shinobi World War: Climax arc, the episode marks the turning point that hardens Obito. The original Japanese broadcast and simulcast trimmed several seconds of the climactic gore and muted some effects, footage later restored on the DVD release.
