Naruto's Vow

Wary of the slow travel and aware that Ganryu is hunting for revenge, Chojuro presses ahead alone to meet messengers from Iwagakure. Meanwhile, Naruto's group pauses at one of the small islands off the Land of Water to resupply before pushing on to the Land of Lightning, and Naruto slips away in search of ramen. The Tsuchikage has dispatched Akatsuchi to the same remote island to link up with Chojuro, and Kurotsuchi comes along with him.

While they wait, a band of Kirigakure ninja under Ganryu ambushes them and wounds Akatsuchi, until Naruto and Chojuro break up the clash. Chojuro orders the attackers to withdraw for defying the Mizukage's will, and they retreat. He explains that these ninja stand against the Allied Shinobi Forces and that Ganryu is the lone survivor of the Tragedy of Yosuga Pass. When Kurotsuchi sets out to kill Ganryu before he can strike again, Naruto blocks her path, warning that such vengeance only breeds more hatred, and takes her sword strike with his own body. Ganryu relents and accepts the peace Naruto offers.

Chojuro arrives with fellow Kiri ninja and secures Ganryu's surrender, revealing that the Tsuchikage sent the messenger himself to formally apologize for the tragedy and return a keepsake of one of Ganryu's fallen teammates, sparing him execution. Pleased that the Iwa and Kiri grudge has ended, Naruto dashes off without ever introducing himself, rejoining Yamato to await a ship bound for the Island Turtle.
