Power - Episode 1

Tonika Village, tucked inside a basin known as the Hole, is set ablaze by a wave of reanimated ninja. A teacher named Dokku pulls two of his young students, Leo and Miina, from their burning house and tells them to wait at the treeline while he searches for more survivors. As the children stay hidden, Kabuto Yakushi strolls through a clearing nearby, guiding the resurrected fighters with a compact wooden go board and a handful of pale stones before tucking the set away and slipping off. At daybreak the two set out for Hachō Village as Dokku had told them, and by nightfall a badly hurt Dokku rejoins them, shepherding three more orphans named Faz, Lando, and Sora.

Weeks later, Tsunade dispatches the newly regrouped Team Kakashi to look into the attack, apologizing that other crises left her unable to spare more hands. Splitting into pairs, Yamato and Sai run into patrolmen from Hachō Village, where a kunoichi called Shiseru and her squad, once they confirm the visitors hail from Konoha, guide them to their leader Disonasu.

Sakura and Naruto, meanwhile, reach the spring at the heart of the Hole and come face to face with Kabuto. He boasts of having rebuilt Hidan, raised a small legion of reanimated shinobi, and used the basin's water to run experiments on genetic reconstruction. A battle erupts, and just as Yamato and Sai return to their teammates, a colossal serpent conjured by Kabuto hauls Naruto beneath the surface.

This opens the six-part Power arc of Shippuden as a special commemorative story. The home-video release is a director's cut that reorders the material significantly: the broadcast version began with Team 7 leaving on their mission and folded the destruction of Tonika in as a flashback after Naruto was pulled underwater. That cut also restores the sequence of Kabuto working the go board while Leo and Miina hide, footage that appeared in the previous week's preview but was dropped from the aired episode.
