The Sage of Six Paths

Hagoromo tells Naruto that he carries the spirit of his younger son, Asura, and lets Naruto deduce for himself that Sasuke inherits the legacy of the elder son, Indra. In a parallel exchange he shares the same truth with Sasuke. The sage explains that Hashirama and Madara were the prior pair to bear these souls, and that when Madara seized Hashirama's power he rebuilt Hagoromo's own chakra and awakened the Rinnegan, defying the warning Hagoromo had left for Indra's line.

He goes on to describe how his mother, Kaguya, once bent all of humanity to her will through her dojutsu, and cautions that Madara is close to claiming that very same power for himself.

Hagoromo asks Naruto to stop Madara, and Naruto agrees. As the tailed beasts' chakra draws together, the sage remarks that the old prophecy has finally been fulfilled. Recognizing that placing his faith in Asura alone once bred endless strife, he calls on Sasuke to join the effort as well, and grants his Yang and Yin powers to the two young men. On the battlefield, an impressed Madara begs Might Guy to keep fighting after surviving the Evening Elephant, naming him the greatest taijutsu master he has ever met.

As Guy readies the Night Guy, Kakashi remembers his own father foreseeing Guy's promise years earlier. The strike tears through the Ten-Tails and nearly kills Madara, but leaves Guy's body crumbling apart. When the regenerating Madara tries to finish him with a Truth-Seeking Ball, Naruto kicks it aside and touches Guy to halt his fading life. Sensing something new in Naruto, Madara wonders what Obito has done, while Naruto declares that his fresh power feels strong enough to change the world.

The installment belongs to the Birth of the Ten-Tails' Jinchuriki arc and marks the moment Naruto and Sasuke receive the Six Paths chakra that reshapes the war. Trivia notes that Naruto's kick echoes earlier moments against Gato's thugs and against Gaara, and that Sasuke's left eye is drawn as normal rather than showing his Rinnegan, likely to hold that reveal until his clash with Madara.
