The Unleashed Villain

Sanzui has to be held back from charging into the burning vessel after Awaji, while Chōjūrō and his fellow Kiri ninja work to smother the blaze and Team 7 sees to Katasuke's wounds. Over at the prison, Kagura sends the medics toward the crash and soon finds every line of communication cut. Isari and his Funato kin have forced their way in, pinning the guards, and when word reaches Kagura, Boruto volunteers to assist, guessing the break-in ties back to the airship attack.

As Jibiki channels water through the halls and the restless inmates react to the blast, Kagura and Boruto discover guards trapped inside a water prison. Freeing them reveals the Funato as the culprits, and Jibiki reports to Isari that he has located Araumi. Deeper in the facility, Isari cuts down the guards outside his father's cell and shatters the glass holding him.

The freed Araumi restores himself by pulling the moisture out of a nearby guard, killing the man in the process. Boruto and Kagura cut off the escape and take on Isari, with Boruto driving a Rasengan at Isari's living weapon and Kagura raising a water mirror for cover. Isari breaks the barrier with a surging wave and withdraws, noting that his weapon has grown fond of Boruto's chakra, and the Funato slip away with Araumi. One island after another across the Land of Water begins slipping into Funato hands.

Reuniting with Team 7, Boruto reveals the crash was only a distraction, a conclusion Chōjūrō reaches independently. The Kage also learns that a drowned governor, secretly in league with the Funato, had seeded the false rumours of a terrorist strike, and that unknown weapons have destroyed a base in the eastern sea.

With Boruto anxious about Team 5's mission on an eastern island and no soldiers to spare, Chōjūrō permits Kagura to accompany Team 7 and entrusts him with Hiramekarei. The squad secures a boat still in working order, and Kagura turns up having enlisted Buntan, Kyohō, and Hebiichigo, all cleared to carry their blades again under his watch, to Team 7's surprise. They set out for Dotō Island, with Kawaki grumbling about being stuck on a boat once more. The episode belongs to the Great Sea Battle of Kirigakure arc of Boruto.
