Wind Release: Rasenshuriken!

Naruto shapes his Wind Release: Rasenshuriken and boxes Kakuzu in with shadow clones, then slips behind him to land the blow, but the technique fizzles out just before contact and leaves the enemy untouched. Kakuzu retaliates, lashing his dark threads around Naruto to tear out his heart, until Yamato strikes with Wood Release and Kakashi cuts the threads apart with a Chidori to free him. Deep in the forest, the mangled Hidan curses Shikamaru and swears vengeance in his god's name, but Shikamaru answers that he follows the Will of Fire instead, hurls a tagged kunai, and buries the dismembered zealot under the blast.

Shikamaru's deer Rikumaru digs up Asuma's lighter, and Pakkun, Sakura, and Sai, summoned by Kakashi, find him leaving the woods, stunned that he took down an immortal Akatsuki member alone. Back at the clearing, Yamato clears up the confusion over the jutsu's name, explaining it must be delivered as a direct frontal hit rather than thrown. When the group offers to gang up on Kakuzu, Naruto invokes Kakashi's own claim that he alone could surpass the Fourth Hokage and asks to try once more by himself. Kakuzu unleashes the full Earth Grudge Fear and rushes what he assumes is the real Naruto, impaling it and killing the Rasenshuriken, only for the target to vanish as a clone. The true Naruto strikes from above with two clones, and the spiraling attack bursts every remaining heart and undoes Kakuzu's threads, dropping him defeated.

The episode adapts chapters 339 through 342 within the Akatsuki Suppression Mission arc. Kakashi is genuinely startled that even his Sharingan could not follow the technique's motion, and that his student had mastered the nature-and-Rasengan fusion that he and the Fourth Hokage never completed.
