The Five Great Countries' Joint Investigation Team is a combined unit drawn from the shinobi of the Five Great Shinobi Countries, formed to look into serious threats that span village borders.
This unit pools together ninja from across the Five Great Shinobi Countries, giving the nations a shared body for probing dangers too large for any single village to tackle alone. Its remit is the investigation of major, cross-border threats.
When a string of disappearances traced back to Ōga began claiming victims, the team funnelled a number of elite jōnin into the area to slip inside and uncover what was happening, yet none of them came back. The lone scrap of intelligence to escape came from a friend of Kiseru, a stark caution to place trust in nothing, though the surviving members were left baffled over how to interpret it.
Over the course of the inquiry the team clashed with Mitsuki and managed to trap him, only for Sarada and Kawaki to break him free. The unit then steered Team 7 into an ambush. Once Sarada picked out several of the members as Konoha Anbu, one of the team's leaders disclosed that they had been cleared to share their findings with the Leaf operatives.
