Overview

Made up of ninja who had walked out on their home villages to serve only themselves, the Shinobazu roamed the Land of Forests with a lair tucked away in the Forest of Bewilderment. Their raids targeted families and homesteads, and they made a practice of killing everyone present so that no survivor could later hunt them for revenge.

Role

That brutal streak was undercut from within by Gantetsu, who secretly rescued orphaned children from the group's massacres and sheltered them, supporting the youngsters out of his share of the stolen money. With him gone, Shura stepped up as the gang's acting leader. When Gantetsu was eventually captured, Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, and Rock Lee drew the assignment of escorting his prison transport. A guard named Todoroki nursed his own grudge, since the Shinobazu had killed his family while Gantetsu carried off his brother Akio. The gang assaulted the convoy to reclaim the funds Gantetsu had taken, but with aid from both Gantetsu and Todoroki, Naruto and Rock Lee cut the remaining members down or left them unable to fight.

Notable Members

Leadership of the group ultimately fell to Shura, its acting chief. Gantetsu, a member who defied the gang's cruelty by hiding away the orphans of its victims, proved pivotal to its defeat. Several of the gang's unnamed hands resemble hired muscle from the Gatō Company.
