Team 8

Guided by Kurenai Yuhi, this Leaf Village cell brings together Kiba Inuzuka and his ninken Akamaru, Hinata Hyuga, and Shino Aburame. The group is purpose-built for search work, drawing on the Hyuga clan's all-seeing Byakugan, the Aburame clan's insect swarms, the Inuzuka clan's hounds, and Kiba's own keen nose. When Kurenai became pregnant during Part II, Kakashi Hatake stepped in to lead them on certain assignments.

Like the rest of the Konoha 11, the team once resolved to put Sasuke Uchiha down themselves to keep his descent from dragging the ninja world into war, only to stand aside when Naruto insisted on handling it alone. Naruto ultimately defeated Sasuke and brought him back to the light. Together with Team Kakashi, Team Kurenai was one of only two squads to come through Part II without losing a member, though Kurenai herself took maternity leave to raise her daughter, Mirai. In the years after, Hinata married Naruto and bore Boruto and Himawari, Kiba began seeing Tamaki, and Shino took up teaching at the Academy.

Their recorded missions, mostly anime originals, run a wide gamut. They failed to bring in the thief Gosunkugi despite aiding his capture, and they recovered a hidden treasure while unmasking the Kedoin clan impostors who had copied their faces. They apprehended the missing-nin Suika after a tough fight, scouted an already-abandoned Orochimaru base alongside Kakashi, and joined the Eight Man Squad hunting Itachi and Sasuke, a pursuit that ended in failure when Tobi stalled them.

Kurenai Yuhi commands the squad, with Kakashi Hatake filling in during her absence. Kiba Inuzuka fights alongside his dog Akamaru, Hinata Hyuga contributes the Byakugan's vision, and Shino Aburame directs colonies of chakra-draining insects. The blend of clan abilities makes the trio Konoha's premier tracking unit.
