Pegasus / Helios

Helios exists in two shapes. His genuine self is a fair young priest tied to Elysion, the sacred realm on Earth where he protects both the peaceful dreams of humanity and the Golden Crystal. When Queen Nehellenia captures and imprisons that physical body, his consciousness slips away to shelter inside Chibiusa's dreams.

Within those dreams he takes the guise of Pegasus, a white steed crowned with feathered wings. A single golden horn rises from his brow, and that horn is the Golden Crystal itself. He holds this equine shape while dwelling in Chibiusa's sleep and whenever he aids the transformed Sailor Moon and Chibi Moon in their Super forms.

Long before the Dead Moon arrived, Helios served as the honored high priest of Elysion and the appointed keeper of the mystical Golden Crystal of dreams, charged with keeping that treasure away from any wicked hand. When the envious Queen Nehellenia and her Dead Moon forces descended, they overpowered him and locked his body away as a captive. To keep the crystal's location hidden, he cast his spirit into a pure and gentle dreamer, adopting the winged-horse form to elude his hunters while he searched for the one soul able to draw out the crystal's full power. That search opens the events of the SuperS story.

As the Dead Moon Circus rummages through the Dream Mirrors of countless victims looking for him, Helios arms his allies for the fight. He grants Usagi and Chibiusa two instruments, the Moon Kaleido Scope and the Crystal Carillon. Ringing the Carillon lets Super Sailor Chibi Moon call out Twinkle Yell, which summons Pegasus so his light can charge Super Sailor Moon's Moon Gorgeous Meditation, the attack that wipes out many of the Lemures.

As Elysion's priest and the crystal's protector, Helios commands considerable magic. He can turn into the winged horse and travel great distances on the wing, separate his soul from his sleeping body, and walk freely through the dreams of other people. His bond with the planet itself lets him feel when the world stands in danger.
