Arisa's Father

He is a middle-aged man showing a few marks of age, with brown eyes and short black hair kept softly cropped.

For years he was a shell of a parent, holed up at home drinking heavily and staring at the television while his daughter's needs went ignored. His recovery mirrored Arisa's own, and the man seen later is warm and playful, a father who genuinely frets about where his daughter's life is headed.

He married and had Arisa, but when the girl was in first grade his wife took up with another man and abandoned the household, leaving him to raise their daughter alone. By Arisa's account he instead lost his job and drank the days away without ever engaging with her, a neglect that left her isolated and eventually pulled her toward a gang, though he never once interfered.

Everything shifted after Arisa grew close to Kyoko and Tohru Honda and rebuilt her life; her father followed suit, sobering up, finding work, and mending their bond. He turns up sharing New Year's with Arisa as she nags him about his drinking, gets scolded over his salt intake on doctor's orders, and sits stunned at a parent-teacher meeting when he hears she hopes to become a model.
