The class prepares a Cinderella play for the cultural festival, and Yuki bows out of the prince's part. Elsewhere, a scare in a dark closet stirs old memories of Akito and pushes him toward a rare, halting confession to Kakeru.
As the yearly cultural festival approaches, Tohru's class begins sorting out casting for a Cinderella production. Yuki steps away from the role of Prince Charming, saying student council keeps him too occupied and that the part simply would not fit him. His council life then takes over: while trying to understand Machi a little better, he ends up trapped in a dark closet and is rescued by her. The fright reawakens memories of Akito, and afterward Yuki manages, in vague terms, to open up to Kakeru about his past and about how he had once searched for a mother figure in Tohru.
Yuki Sohma declines the prince's role in the class play and instead grows closer to Machi Kuragi, who frees him after he is locked in a closet. The scare revives his memories of Akito and leads to a guarded confession to Kakeru Manabe. Naohito Sakuragi, Kimi Toudou, Tohru Honda, Arisa Uotani, Saki Hanajima, and Kyo Sohma also appear.
