Bald

A heavy eyepatch covers Bald's right eye, and a prosthetic automail limb replaces his left arm. That arm is no ordinary replacement: it hides a twin-barreled rifle along with a concealed knife, lending him a genuinely menacing presence when he confronts his hostages.

Bald is a hardened militant, quick to reach for brutal force to prove a point, as when he blasts a hole through a captive general's ear. His loyalty runs to Blue Squad and its jailed commander, and even after he is captured he refuses to go quietly, throwing himself at Mustang in one last, futile strike.

With Blue Squad's leader jailed, Bald commandeered a civilian train, intending to ransom Major General Hakuro, who was traveling on holiday with his family, in exchange for his commander. His crew wiped out the security detail, held the conductors at gunpoint, and cowed the passengers, but the Elric brothers happened to be aboard as well. Working in tandem, Ed and Al brought down the henchmen and subdued Bald before the train reached East City. Arrested on arrival, he wrenched free of his bonds and charged Colonel Roy Mustang, who had come to oversee the roundup, only for Mustang's flame alchemy to put him down once more.

In the 2003 anime the entire episode is a setup engineered by Mustang, who placed Ed and Al on that particular train so a grateful Hakuro would waive the age requirement on the State Alchemist exam. The whole affair is cut from the 2009 anime, and Hakuro's undamaged ear confirms it never happened there even off-screen.
