History
Cain was romantically involved with Rose Thomas until he was killed abruptly in an accident. Father Cornello preyed on her grief, dangling the promise of resurrecting Cain to win her loyal service to his church. In the 2003 anime the priest went further, transmuting a chimera parrot that spoke in Cain's voice but could only utter Rose's name, convincing her that Cain had been revived and was simply still recovering. Doubt crept in after Edward Elric was captured, and once Rose uncovered the deception, Cornello sealed her in a room and set the chimera parrot to kill her and silence the truth. Alphonse Elric intervened, destroying the creature and saving her.
