Central Researchers

Seen only in the manga and the 2009 anime, the Central Researchers appear as a faceless team dressed in white lab coats. Apart from their supervisor, the Gold-Toothed Doctor, not one of the members is ever named or individually identified.

The group operates in total secrecy and with chilling detachment, treating human beings as raw experimental material. Their work is coldly clinical, cultivating candidates from infancy and discarding those who fail without a flicker of hesitation.

Under the Gold-Toothed Doctor, the researchers reared a series of Fuhrer candidates from infancy into adulthood and then injected them with Philosopher's Stones. Of the twelve subjects tested for compatibility, eleven were killed during the process; the lone survivor became Wrath, King Bradley. The team first surfaces in Chapter 53, corresponding to episode 26 of the anime. Their supervisor recurs across the story, appearing in Wrath's origin flashback, again in Chapter 67 to treat Solf J. Kimblee's wounds at Briggs, and once more on the Promised Day. General Raven identifies him as a bio-alchemical physician in the same vein as Tim Marcoh, though whether his subordinates share that expertise is never established.
