Clara / Psiren

Across every guise she adopts, Clara keeps shoulder-length blonde hair parted on the left, paired with bright blue eyes and red lipstick. Concealed just above her chest is a tattooed transmutation circle that she can bare whenever she needs it.

As the thief Psiren she wears a sleek, asymmetrical jumpsuit in dark red and black that runs from throat to feet, cut to leave one shoulder and much of her left leg exposed. She tops it with a hooded mask fitted with folded rabbit ears, black straps at both wrists, and pointed heels. Out of costume she rotates through several disguises, turning up in a pastel nurse's uniform, a dark nun's habit, and a schoolteacher's blazer with glasses.

Clara is a gifted alchemist, acrobat, and cat burglar who leans on charm and her figure to slip past male opponents when cornered. Her signature tool is an ordinary deck of playing cards, which she reshapes into bridges, blades, and restraints, pinning pursuers, including both Elric brothers, to walls and floors. The circle tattooed on her chest lets her conjure gusts of wind, seemingly absorb objects, and set off explosions to break free of custody, and she appears to command a water-based alchemy as well.

Whether her softer moments are sincere is left open. She poses convincingly as a nurse, a nun, and a teacher, and even Alphonse admits she is genuinely skilled at nursing. Since she gains nothing material from those honest jobs, the kindness she shows in them may not be entirely staged.

Psiren first turns up escaping the Aquroya police with a stolen jewel, then meets Edward and Alphonse at a hospital where she works as a nurse and painlessly treats Ed's food poisoning. Alphonse is smitten, even likening her to their late mother, until her nerves show once she learns the boys are alchemists. When the police enlist the brothers to stop her next heist, Ed corners her, only for Psiren to expose her chest tattoo and blast free.

She later spins a tale that she steals only to rescue condemned buildings, winning Ed's sympathy, yet each site is demolished anyway. Locals explain that Aquroya is slowly sinking, and many credit Psiren with giving the doomed town one final burst of attention. Ed eventually turns the tables and captures her, and before being hauled off she tips him that the Philosopher's Stone may lie in Xenotime. She promptly uses her tattoo to escape the police van and vanishes, though Mustang later hints he knows all about the beautiful thief.
