Damiano

Damiano cuts the figure of a young Amestrian serviceman, a green-eyed enlistee whose look is shaped by the standard-issue gear of the eastern garrison rather than by any striking personal feature.

Loyalty defines him. Even though his stint under Mustang lasted only a handful of days, the young soldier came away admiring an officer who put the survival of his subordinates ahead of everything, and that gratitude never faded. When the chance arrived to stand behind his former commander once more, Damiano did not hesitate, throwing himself into the effort with the same devotion he had felt on the battlefield.

Damiano was shipped to the Daliha sector of Ishval and folded into Major Mustang's outfit just before the Ishvalan conflict drew to a close, giving him little time in the field yet enough to take the measure of his leader. In the seven years that followed, he stayed in uniform across the East Area of Amestris, serving beneath Lieutenant General Grumman. Once word spread that Mustang intended to march on Central and purge the corrupt heart of the state, Damiano and the comrades he had fought alongside gladly answered the call and rejoined the fight. The 2009 anime leaves his personal background largely unspoken.
