Fort Briggs Doctor

The doctor is a woman who studies her patients through a pair of glasses, her eyes a clear blue. She is most often found at her desk inside the fortress, hemmed in by the tools of both medicine and machining that her twin trades demand.

Dedicated and highly capable, she treats the survival of the Briggs soldiers as her personal charge. The men of the fort, much as they regard Major General Armstrong, tend not to think of her in womanly terms. When Winry once visited, they openly mourned the loss of their precious female presence even with the doctor sitting right there in the room.

Stationed at Fort Briggs, the doctor fills two roles at once, tending wounds as a physician and building limbs as an automail engineer. Her specialty is the punishing northern climate: she grasps both how the cold ravages the human body and how prosthetics must be adapted to keep functioning in sub-zero air, which is exactly why the garrison cannot run without her. She is believed to have collaborated with the engineer Neil on Buccaneer's cold-weather prosthetics, the Modified M1910 and the Heavy Combat M1913-A. A family photograph on her desk in the anime hints at a crowded household back home, with two parents, three brothers, and a younger sister. Because the manga never grants her a proper name, much of the fandom has settled on calling her Patricia.
