Kiri

Kiri is a young child of the Nameless Village, also called Hyde Village, the settlement where the former state alchemist practices in secret. She is small enough that Lust can seize her with ease, and thankful enough to bring flowers to the man she knows as Mauro.

She is warm and grateful, likely one of the townsfolk healed by Marcoh's use of the Philosopher's Stone. That affection moves her to thank him in the simplest way she can, carrying flowers to his clinic one afternoon, a gesture of pure childish gratitude.

Kiri happens to arrive just as Lust is pressing Marcoh to reveal where he hid his notes. He is prepared to die rather than talk, but the moment the girl steps in she becomes a bargaining chip. With two of Lust's bladed fingers at her throat and the threat of losing her head, Marcoh relents and gives up his secret, and Kiri is released and comforted as the Homunculus leaves. Her brief part is dropped from both anime, replaced in the 2003 series by a hotel maid used as the hostage, while the 2009 series trims most of the negotiation. A translation quirk also has her calling out "Doctor Marcoh" in the official English manga, though no one in town knew his real surname; in the Japanese original she simply says "Doctor."
