Menny

Menny is a young child living in Dublith, roughly somewhere between four and seven years old.

She is tender-hearted and deeply devoted to her pet. Her innocence runs so deep that she genuinely believes Izumi Curtis can mend anything, even death itself.

One day after the death of her cat Chiko, Menny carries the little body to Izumi Curtis, certain that the master alchemist can put the animal right again. Izumi gently explains that a living creature is not an object and that a life cannot be reclaimed once it is gone. To console the girl, she builds a small grave so Chiko can rest, and after a brief makeshift service the tearful child hurries back to her mother, at last understanding how heavily life and death weigh.

The 2003 adaptation changes the circumstances: Chiko is mauled by a neighborhood dog, flees to a rooftop, gives birth to a litter, and dies of her wounds. One kitten nearly rolls off the roof before Edward saves it with alchemy and quick reflexes. Once everyone has helped bury Chiko and Menny has come to terms with the loss, she adopts the late cat's newborns. Her character was removed entirely from Brotherhood.
