Appearance

Noah is a young Roma woman with warm, sandy-brown skin and long dark hair worn with a pair of braids framing her face. She stands a little taller than Edward Elric and appears throughout the film in one dress or another. Her look deliberately echoes Rose Thomas of Lior, the two sharing brown skin, a dark fringe, and even the same rough height, a resemblance meant to mark them as counterparts across worlds.

Personality

Quiet and grave by nature, Noah carries a clear pride in her heritage even as she aches to break free of the hardship that anti-Romani hatred forces on her in the Weimar-era Germany she inhabits. That desperation leaves her willing to bend her loyalties, chasing peace and a life without persecution at almost any cost. She comes to believe the ends can justify the means, a conviction that steers her toward dangerous company.

History

Noah meets Edward and Alfons Heiderich when all three hitch a ride toward a fair near Munich, traveling among a group of Romani women who keep her at arm's length. At the fair her companions betray her, selling her to agents of the Thule Society, and she flees, hiding beneath the cover of Edward's rocket until he shields her from the pursuers. He brings her back to the Munich house he shares with Alfons, where she is taken in despite the strange beginning.

Her hidden gift soon surfaces: she can hear the thoughts of others, and while Edward sleeps she glimpses his memories of Amestris and grows enchanted by a world where she imagines no one would scorn her. That yearning leads her to help Dietlinde Eckhart and the Thule Society pry open the Gate toward Shamballa, and she begs Edward to carry her through with him. Only when he lays bare the flaw in her thinking does she relent, in the end choosing to stay with her own people and parting from the brothers rather than crossing over.
