Trisha Elric

Trisha is a lovely young woman whose chestnut hair falls to her chest, gathered into a low ponytail off to the right side. Her eyes are green, and she is most commonly pictured in a lavender dress worn over a white apron.

Warm and tender by nature, she doted on her two boys and on Hohenheim, and the whole family cherished her long after she was gone. Hohenheim in particular mourned her deeply, even though the leaving that separated them had been his own reluctant choice.

She was around twenty when Edward was born and a year older at Alphonse's birth. Once Hohenheim vanished, she would gaze out the windows as though waiting to spot him coming up the road, and her sons took up alchemy partly to make her smile, never guessing that her smiles came from how the craft recalled their father. When an epidemic swept through, Trisha fell gravely ill. Edward, hoping a glimpse of Hohenheim might give her the will to recover, tried to reach him through the return addresses on old letters, but the man never came. On her deathbed she pointed the boys toward money she had put aside and asked them to look after themselves. Consumed by grief afterward, the brothers attempted human transmutation to bring her back, and the ruined mass of tissue it produced was buried by Pinako Rockbell. Much later Edward dug up those remains and confirmed that the thing they had raised was never truly his mother, since its hair and bone structure did not match hers. In the 2003 anime that failed creation is fed red stones by Dante and reshaped into the homunculus Sloth, who wears Trisha's face, while the 2009 anime revisits her girlhood, showing a young Trisha boldly asking a downcast Hohenheim for a dance.
