Heavy Combat M1913-A

The Heavy Combat M1913-A, far better known by its nickname the Crocodile, is a combat-oriented automail arm tailored for frigid environments. In place of fingers it mounts a sizable chainsaw fitted with a jaw clamp.

Like other cold-weather automail, it forgoes combat steel in favor of carbon fiber, a choice that helps guard against frostbite for anyone relying on it in the north.

The chainsaw serves as the arm's main weapon, with the clamping jaw letting it seize hold of objects. Its standout trait is heat management: exhaust vented from the chainsaw engine warms the wearer's connecting nerves, holding frostbite at bay. That feature stretches the safe operating window well beyond even other carbon-fiber cold-climate models such as the Mad Bear G, allowing longer missions in the cold.

The design carries a clear trade-off, however. With no fingers, the Crocodile cannot serve as an ordinary hand, which makes it awkward in everyday situations and leaves the wearer exposed should it be damaged badly enough to stop working.

Buccaneer is the only character shown wearing the Crocodile, putting it to use during the fighting in the north. Even so, the model is apparently well known among automail specialists, a familiarity evident in Winry Rockbell's excitement at seeing one.

Its designation, along with that of the Modified M1910 also worn by Buccaneer, closely echoes the real-world Colt M1911 pistol. The anime notably omits the exhaust-driven frostbite protection, presumably to save time.
