Bonus Chapter: Fullmetal Alchemist and the Broken Angel, Prologue

The story opens with a military officer fleeing through city streets as the police pursue him, until Colonel Genz Bresslau finally catches him. In another district, Armony Eiselstein heads home after secretly practicing the alchemy her father, Professor Wilhelm Eiselstein, has banned her from studying. Having built their entire town through alchemy himself, the professor still refuses to teach her, a stance she cannot make sense of, and their argument breaks off when Brigadier General Nemda arrives to meet with him.

At headquarters, Roy Mustang tasks Riza Hawkeye with looking into whether Nemda played a part in a recent atrocity, the wiping out of a whole town by chimeras, and asks her to work her way into the general's inner circle. The captured officer, meanwhile, swears he has done nothing and knows nothing. Bresslau believes him and urges him to lie low in New Heissgart while the colonel works to clear his name. A tangle of circumstances then brings the Elric brothers, Hawkeye, Armstrong, and the accused officer all to New Hiessgart at once.

This prologue exists to lead directly into the tie-in video game that shares its title, with the narrative continuing there rather than within the main manga.
