Anti-Spiral Tribe

Individual Anti-Spirals persist as pale white humanoid figures, stripped of anything that would set one apart from another. Their bodies lie dormant on the tribe's homeworld, held in unending stasis, while the shared mind they generate acts upon the physical universe through the entity known as Antispiral.

Everything about the tribe flows from one conviction: that unchecked evolution ends in the Spiral Nemesis and the death of the universe. To forestall that outcome its people surrendered identity, evolution, and freedom, and their collective will treats the containment of Spiral life not as conquest but as duty. That duty is pursued without mercy, from planetary extermination systems to wars spanning galaxies.

Before their transformation the Anti-Spirals were ordinary Spiral lifeforms; the record preserves nothing else of that era. Upon grasping what the Spiral Nemesis meant, they scoured the Spiral Power from themselves, froze their own evolution, and turned to policing the cosmos.

Their campaign met its fiercest resistance on Earth, home of the native Spiral warriors. The defenders threw the invaders back into space and pressed deep into enemy territory, but Anti-Spiral numbers swelled the further they advanced, and the warriors never located the hidden base of operations, grinding the war into stalemate. It ended when Lordgenome, having learned of the Spiral Nemesis, turned against his fellow warriors to spare the universe further losses, as depicted in Parallel Works episode 8. With Earth's champions broken, the Anti-Spiral seeded the planet with Human Extermination Systems, some wearing the shape of unknowing people such as Nia, and warned Lordgenome that a human population beyond one million would set them off.

Once that threshold is crossed, a lone Mugann opens the assault, the dormant Anti-Spiral gene inside Nia awakens, and the moon, in truth the Cathedral Terra, begins falling toward Earth to wipe out its Spiral life. Rossiu's evacuation aboard the Arc-Gurren runs into a Mugann ambush, broken when Gurren Lagann merges with the ship and reclaims the Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren. Team Dai-Gurren then carries the fight into Antispiral's own universe, where Ashtanga battleships and mass-produced war machines feign weakness, cut down most of the veteran pilots, and knock the flagship into the Death Spiral Field, a zone that bleeds its occupants of Spiral Power. The team escapes by absorbing the energy that sea has hoarded, unleashes the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann to crush the counterattacking Ashtanga, Hastagry, and Pada units, and endures the Multiverse Labyrinth that scatters their minds across possibility. In the final clash Antispiral's Granzeboma nearly prevails over Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, until Viral hurls Lagann, carrying Simon, Nia, and Boota, straight through the enemy. Dying, Antispiral entrusts Simon with guarding the universe against the Spiral Nemesis, and the race perishes along with its universe.
