Around the device hangs its protective barrier, the Spiral Conversion Field, while the wrecked Gunmen of fallen Spiral warriors drift through the surrounding Galactic Spiral Abyss the machine generates.

History

The machine ensnares the Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren amid the Second Anti-Spiral War, dragging the flagship into its depths and bleeding it dry before it can assume its Gurren Lagann form. Simon keeps the vessel alive by feeding its engine Spiral Power faster than the drain can steal it, letting the crew hold off an attacking Anti-Spiral fleet. The ship then dives toward the machine carrying two Super Spiral Missiles, only for the pressure to crush the first one before it arrives.

Kittan Bachika takes the surviving missile down in the Space King Kittan and rams it through the Spiral Conversion Field, tearing the barrier open. The crushing depths keep his follow-up missiles from firing and destroy his mecha, but he escapes in the original King Kittan, clutching a snapped-off Gurren Lagann drill he keeps for luck. Declaring the drill his very soul, Kittan awakens his own Spiral Power, restores the weapon, and delivers the King Kittan Giga Drill Break. The blow annihilates the machine and kills him. With its destruction the abyss collapses, the condensed sea reverts to Spiral Power, and Simon honors Kittan's final wish by transforming the flagship into the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann.

Abilities

The device absorbs Spiral Power from everything around it and condenses the stolen energy into space so dense it resembles an ocean, leaving Spiral life forms drained and dead. Its Spiral Conversion Field works in reverse, swallowing incoming mass and turning it into Spiral Power, so ordinary attacks feed the defense instead of breaking it. Only a concentrated surge of Spiral Power can punch a hole through the field and expose the machine underneath.
