Personality

Among the Black Siblings, Kinon reads as the level head and the keenest mind, meek where her family is loud. Her defining trait is loyalty that runs all the way to self-sacrifice. Devotion to Rossiu drives her hardest choices, and that devotion is not blind: she stands by him because she watches how the weight of his decisions grinds at him and understands that circumstance, not ambition, forces his hand.

History

Kinon debuts in Episode 4 when the Black Siblings mistake Gurren for a Beastman machine menacing a helpless boy and attack it. Once the confusion clears, she joins her sisters in swooning over the pilots, then accompanies Yoko on a hunt whose quarry proves to be sixteen puffball Beastmen, every one of them packing a Gunman. In Episode 6 she and her sisters wander into a bath house that proves to be a giant Gunman in disguise; captured by its Beastman owners, they are freed by Yoko and end up crammed inside Lagann's cockpit while Kamina wrecks the enemy.

She sits out the fight for the Dai-Gunzan, but once the fortress falls she claims a post in its control tower as the team's radar monitor. Alone among her family she never takes the front line, yet her work keeps the team running all the way through the fall of Teppelin.

After the timeskip Kinon becomes one of Rossiu's closest supporters in the new government. When Simon, still under a death sentence, offers to defend the city in Gurren Lagann, Kinon volunteers to ride in Gurren with explosives wired into the cockpit, prepared to detonate them and kill them both should he attempt an escape. She later reveals to Simon that Rossiu never toppled him for his own benefit, then helps stop Rossiu from taking his own life. While the rest of the team departs to face the Anti-Spirals, she remains on Earth at his side, helping administer Kamina City.

Abilities

Kinon's value is operational. She runs the Dai-Gurren's radar and control tower across two wars, and when the moment demands it she proves willing to crew a Gunman under conditions no combat pilot would envy.
