I Accept Your Last Wish!

The flagship sinks beneath what looks like water while Simon's escape orders accomplish nothing. Lordgenome identifies the trap as a Death-Spiral field, a zone that drinks spiral power and remakes it as superdense matter, and Anti-Spiral craft swarm in to force the vessel deeper. Kittan and Yoko launch anyway, Kittan telling a frightened Gimmy that nobody owes the dead for their deaths, and the pair hold out against the tide until Gimmy and Darry join them and the attackers are cleared.

Wrecked Lagann-type machines litter the depths, relics of a First War, and the Anti-Spiral taunts the crew with the knowledge that other spiral races reached this same point before them. Simon vows to fight in honor of the fallen, but the ship's descent breaks his concentration; his drill shatters and the backlash injures him. Viral seethes at his own lack of spiral power until Boota scrambles into the cockpit and, to everyone's astonishment, radiates it himself, letting Gurren carry Lagann. The team settles on a plan: ride down the throat of the Death Spiral Machine and destroy it directly, even as superdense matter floods the hull and the clock runs out.

Their first missile detonates before reaching the target. Yoko claims the suicide run, but Kittan pulls the job away from her, kisses her, and owns up to being selfish; she hugs him and admits nothing she says will stop him. Refusing any theatrical farewell, he promises only to be seeing them soon, punches through the barrier, and fires, but the missile shatters and the pressure crushes King Kittan as he screams. The crew is still mourning when Yoko spots a life sign on the radar. Clutching a bent drill salvaged from the Gurren Lagann, Kittan calls it the embodiment of his soul, and his awakening spiral power regenerates the broken bit. His King Kittan Giga Drill Break tears the Death Spiral Machine apart, and he dissolves inside the explosion with a laugh, judging spiral power to be not bad at all.

With the machine destroyed, the superdense sea converts back into raw spiral power that floods the area. Lordgenome remarks that the operation's theoretical odds were zero and concedes, with something like admiration, that his calculations mean nothing where this crew is concerned. Accepting Kittan's last wish aloud, Simon puts on his goggles, which reshape into star-pointed glasses recalling Kamina's, and the transformed ship rises from the dark ocean as the Chouginga Gurren Lagann, with Simon promising the Anti-Spirals a demonstration of humanity's power.

Kittan awakens his own spiral power moments before dying, destroying the Death Spiral Machine with the King Kittan Giga Drill Break.

The Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann debuts, born from the flagship's transformation in the flood of reclaimed spiral power, and Simon's goggles become the star-shaped glasses he wears for the rest of the series.

The Japanese title, Omae no Ishi wa Uketotta!, matches the English broadcast title I Accept Your Last Wish!. The Japanese premiere came on September 16, 2007, and the English airing on November 10, 2008.

Simon's transformed eyewear merges Kamina's silhouette with a star, honoring both Kamina and Kittan at once. Kittan's sacrifice references Musashi's death from Getter Robo, and the shot of the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann rising from the sea with crossed arms mirrors a famous moment of Getter Robo G in the manga.
