Ashtanga

The Ashtanga serve as the battle craft of the Anti-Spiral, tasked with guarding their space and striking down Spiral peoples once the Mugann come up short. Each one takes the outline of a swollen thumb ringed by black arms and studded with several grey, Buddha-like faces, a green gem set in every forehead, save the central head that bears three. The name traces back to the Sanskrit roots Ashta and anga, meaning eight and parts, a nod to the eight limbs of Ashtanga Yoga.

These dreadnoughts field a probability negation shield, slip away into subspace, and unfold their many arms to hurl whole planets. They can also gape their mouths and loose a groaning wail to catch a foe as large as the just-assembled Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann off balance, then rain down a seemingly bottomless stream of tooth-shaped missiles that warp probability itself. Each carries small squadrons of Hasutagurai and Pada, Space Gunmen-scale vessels built to resemble hands and feet, a face set into every digit, craft that feign sluggishness to lull an enemy before striking with sudden precision, speed, and force.

The Anti-Spiral commands the Ashtanga fleets directly, deploying them in the war against Team Dai-Gurren, where they tower over and menace the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann.
