Einzer

Iraak Coega rides the Einzer as his own custom Gunmen throughout Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Coated in teal and white, the unit strays far from the usual mold, its build closer to a two-legged hunting dinosaur than to a boxy mech. Speed defines it, and its pilot rarely fights alone in it.

A pointed head with a jaw drawn out like a reptile's snout tops the machine, a big red eye ringed in white plating sitting on each side above a pair of stubby arms. Its legs mount behind the face and arms, running unusually long, bending backward at the knee, and ending in flat, triangular feet that lend it a loping, ostrich-like stride. A pale thruster trails off the back like a tail. The upper surface stays flat and holds a small perch, so the Einzer can seat a rider alongside its pilot.

Speed is clearly the point of the build: the long limbs, low body, and oversized thruster let it dart across a battlefield, and the thruster can swing forward to fire as a cannon. Iraak usually leaves that role to Yoko, who rides atop the Gunmen as a moving sniper's nest while he concentrates on driving. Once the Anti-Spiral War arrives, the machine links with its Space Gunmen twin, letting Iraak steer it much as Simon handles Gurren Lagann.

Iraak Coega is the machine's sole pilot, first bringing it out in the seventh episode and keeping it through the twenty-fourth. Yoko is its most frequent passenger, perched up top to pick off targets while he drives. Like the other custom Gunmen the Dai-Gurren Brigade fields, how much of the design is original build and how much reflects later tinkering stays unknown.
