Overview
Gunzar stands out as an unusually large Gunmen, marked by a red face set into its chest and a pair of glowing yellow eyes. A captain-ranked Beastman originally holds its controls. Although it counts as a genuinely powerful unit, it falls short of the sturdier machines handed to the enemy's Generals, leaving it strong but not top-tier.
Function
Its combat rests on two big sword-like weapons. The frame hides a real weakness in the arms and legs, which snap under pressure: during its debut Kamina shatters those limbs outright with a pair of boastful signature strikes, a kick and a punch thrown with his usual swagger about just who anyone thinks he is. After Kamina seizes the machine, he pairs it with Lagann to bring down the two other attacking Gunmen. The heavy damage it takes in that clash is later repaired using salvage from the defeated units, remaking it entirely into Gurren.
Notable Users
Its first operator is the captain-class Beastman commander Dusack. Kamina takes it for his own early in the story, and its rebuilt identity as Gurren goes on to serve as the body of Gurren Lagann. The machine debuts in the second episode and stays on the record through the eighteenth.
