King Kittan

King Kittan is the Gunmen that Kittan Bachika seizes, renames, and makes his own. It first turns up when Kittan rescues most of Team Gurren from enemy units while Simon and Kamina are busy fighting Thymilph aboard the Dai-Gunzan. Fired up by Kamina's theft of Gunzar, Kittan grabs a machine for himself and tailors it to his taste, taking real pride in the result and standing among the very first to follow that example. Its distinctive body is shaped like a five-pointed star.

Through the Beastman war Kittan and King Kittan act as squad commander and deputy for Team Dai-Gurren, herding the group against rank-and-file foes while Gurren Lagann handles the heavier threats. Working with Kiyoh in the Dayakkaiser and Kiyal in the Kiyalunga, the unit can form a pseudo-combination called King Kittan Deluxe. Presumed scrapped after Grapearls arrive, it is instead hidden and kept in peak condition by Makken and Leyte, who fit it with a spiral cannon for the Mugann and confirm it was always built for space. Its known techniques include the King Kittan Giga Drill Break, made by borrowing one of Gurren Lagann's drills and awakening Kittan's own Spiral Power to summon a drill twice the size of Gurren Lagann's, and the King Kittan Stinger, which merges its front and rear horns, drives them into a foe's mouth, and snaps them back to split the enemy apart. The Space King Kittan adds a Space Sunbeam fired from its twin lance.

Kittan Bachika of the Black Siblings is the machine's one pilot. Late in the war the enlarged Space King Kittan, built with the Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren's factories, serves as field deputy and squad commander while Gimmy and Darry lead the Grapearls. It falls attempting to destroy the Death Spiral Machine at the heart of the Galactic Spiral Abyss; before the blast the smaller King Kittan ejects from its mouth, and Kittan's awakened Spiral Power lets him complete the mission at the cost of his life. That sacrifice helps Simon call forth the Super Galaxy Gurren Lagann, and in his memory Kittan's digger goggles transform into crimson star-shaped shades.
