Overview

Shuzack is the custom Gunman belonging to Cytomander. It presents as a lean, white, humanoid frame carrying an enormous set of wings, with a compact Levi-Sphere housed in each foot to keep it airborne. In the manner of the other Generals' machines, it holds a second configuration, collapsing into a massive skeletal visage topped by a wing-shaped crest, with slender clawed limbs hanging beneath the jaw. Its romanized name points to Suzaku, the southern Vermillion Bird, one of the four guardian symbols of the Chinese constellations.

Function

Shuzack is tuned for control of the skies, and its narrow build suggests a machine that favors speed and maneuvering over raw force. Joints along its frame let both arms stretch out or draw back for close fighting, and a lethal buzzsaw is mounted in its torso. What its transformed state could truly do stays mostly a mystery, since the Gunman was wrecked the instant it changed shape. In the first film, Gurren-Hen, that second form tries to strike Gurren Lagann by sprouting metal needles from every gap in its body, an attack whose full title, Demolition Plume, only surfaces in Super Robot Wars, because Cytomander is cut down before he can name it.

Notable Users

Cytomander commands Shuzack. Both machine and pilot met their end together when the Gunman placed itself in the path of the Dai-Gurren as it rammed the Dai-Gunten, and Shuzack was destroyed the moment after it committed to its transformation.
