Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, shortened to STTGL, is a mountainous mech-shaped body of pure energy that takes form during Simon's climactic duel with the Anti-Spiral in the second film adaptation, The Lights in the Sky are Stars. Its body reads as a Gunmen sculpted from a blue, universe-like expanse wrapped around what looks like a skeleton. The overall build mirrors its central pilot Simon, sharing his oversized head-to-body proportions, and it keeps his Star Sunglasses in a slightly reworked style. One detail breaks from Simon, though: its flowing cape leans more toward Kamina's than his own long coat. Seated in the middle of its head, acting as the cockpit for the whole colossus, is the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann itself.

By the accounts of writer Kazuki Nakashima and the databooks, STTGL is larger than the observable universe, which spans some 93 billion light years across. It carries no officially fixed height beyond that, and its size remains a favorite subject of fan estimation, with figures running from hundreds of billions to trillions of light years.

The Spiral Power backing STTGL is staggering, since its pilots had already climbed through many stages of empowerment before it existed. Simon folded the entire multiverse into himself, uniting every possible version of his own being across infinite realities along with their pasts and futures, which pushed his Spiral reserves toward the infinite. Its defining attack is the Super Tengen Toppa Giga Drill Break, the machine's ultimate finisher. When that drill met the Anti-Spiral's own Giga Drill of matching scale, the collision unleashed such colossal energy that the enemy's universe was crushed into a dimensionless void, the very outcome described by the Spiral Nemesis, an unraveling of all reality. Its speed defies measurement outright, given the absence of any reference frame and the likelihood that it, like Team Dai-Gurren and the Anti-Spiral, stands beyond the ordinary rules of time and space.

The whole of Team Dai-Gurren pilots STTGL. It came together after the Granzeboma tore apart the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, splitting the team into individual Tengen Toppa Gunmen, with the head becoming Tengen Toppa Lagann for Simon and the surviving members plus Nia taking their own machines. Deep into the fight, Lordgenome gave his life to convert the Anti-Spiral's Infinity Big Bang Storm into Spiral Energy, which Simon's Tengen Toppa Lagann absorbed before merging with the other Gunmen into Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann. Even this titan could not fully overpower the enemy on its own; smaller Gurren Lagann forms kept emerging until the original Gurren Lagann appeared and Simon struck the finishing blow. Once the Anti-Spiral fell, STTGL vanished along with the enemy's universe and was never seen again.
