Hyōrinmaru is the living spirit dwelling inside Tōshirō Hitsugaya's zanpakutō. He appears as a colossal ice dragon and spent years reaching out to Hitsugaya before the young Shinigami learned his name.
In his usual form the spirit is an enormous, ice-blue serpentine dragon fitted with broad wings and speaking in an echoing voice. That shape changes drastically when a Shin'eiyaku pill partially Hollowfies Hitsugaya's soul: the spirit swells into a hulking Western dragon with heavy legs, a dark, heavily muscled underbelly, an arching, spiked neck, and a rugged, teeth-lined face.
Hyōrinmaru surfaced again and again in Hitsugaya's childhood dreams, trying each time to tell the boy his name, though Hitsugaya could never make out the words over the roaring wind. Only once Hitsugaya found the resolve to master him did he finally hear and speak that name.
In the Thousand-Year Blood War, after Cang Du seized the Bankai with a Medallion, Hitsugaya could feel nothing from his sword and got no answer when he reached for the spirit. When the Bankai later returned to him, Hyōrinmaru confirmed that a stolen Bankai carries no mind of its own, and Hitsugaya welcomed him back.

Five Bleach female characters, ranked and settled. Yoruichi sits at number five, the spot nobody expects, and our number one is an Arrancar with a soft heart....

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....
As the manifested soul of Hitsugaya's blade, Hyōrinmaru embodies the strongest ice-type zanpakutō in Soul Society, whose name carries the meaning Ice Ring. His released power takes the form of Daiguren Hyōrinmaru, the Bankai through which Hitsugaya commands water, ice, and even the weather.
Hyorinmaru is the zanpakuto spirit belonging to Toshiro Hitsugaya. He appears as a colossal ice dragon dwelling inside Hitsugaya's sword.
Hyorinmaru itself is the manifested spirit of Toshiro Hitsugaya's zanpakuto, not the Bankai. His released Bankai form is called Daiguren Hyorinmaru, through which Hitsugaya commands water, ice, and even the weather.
