Gatai is a boastful shinobi of Kumogakure who fancies himself a powerful warrior. He travels to Konohagakure to challenge Hiashi Hyuga purely on reputation, only for his bluster to crumble first under Boruto and then beneath a single hard stare from Hiashi.
Bald and thick-browed, Gatai cuts a stocky, muscular figure of middling height, his eyes grey above a dark beard. His white kimono has had the sleeves ripped away and is bound with a black gi, worn over grey trousers and sandals; a grey turtleneck sits beneath the kimono, and bandages wrap his wrists and ankles.
Gatai rates himself a mighty shinobi and rarely stops saying so, crowing that he had frightened Hiashi into backing away from a challenge. The truth is far less flattering: one steady look from Hiashi is all it takes to shatter his nerve.

Naruto vs Luffy with the twist nobody asked for: Luffy tickled Hinata on date night, and she kind of liked it. We break down the whole fight and commit to a winner....

Naruto built the transformation jutsu himself, and the Hidden Leaf has been quietly not talking about it ever since. The story behind our 90s R&B record about the Naruko question everybody dodges....
Powerfully built, Gatai hoists a massive club without strain and bounces back fast from punishment, recovering in a blink even after Boruto lands a blow to his gut. His swings tear apart the buildings around him, and he pours Lightning Release into the club so each strike hits far harder. He turns up in Konohagakure with an attendant and challenges Hiashi Hyuga on the strength of the man's renown. When Hanabi explains that her father is away on his own orders, Gatai reads it as cowardice, and afterwards, over at the Lightning Burger, he brags that Hiashi fears him. An exasperated Boruto takes up the challenge instead, dodging his attacks with ease and mocking him with the jab that he could not even beat Hanabi. Furious, Gatai lays back into the fight and wrecks the area, and Boruto moves to end it with a Rasengan before Hiashi halts them both. Faulting himself for missing how Boruto would react, Hiashi takes up the challenge, only for a cowed Gatai to back out.

Hiashi was away on assignment when Gatai arrived to challenge him, so Boruto stepped in instead, dodging Gatai's attacks with ease and taunting him about losing to Hanabi.
Gatai fights with a massive club charged with Lightning Release chakra, hitting hard enough to tear apart nearby buildings with each swing.
After Boruto nearly finished him with a Rasengan, Hiashi stepped in and agreed to accept Gatai's challenge himself, but a suddenly cowed Gatai backed out of the fight entirely.
Gatai boasts constantly about being a mighty shinobi and claims he frightened Hiashi Hyuga into avoiding him, but a single steady look from Hiashi is enough to shatter his nerve completely.
