History

Sasame belonged to the Fuma Clan when Orochimaru approached its members with the promise of returning them to prominence. Arashi and several others were swayed, while Hanzaki's faction refused, and from then on Sasame devoted herself to tracking Arashi down. Familiar with sealing and her clan's guarded techniques, her search led her to blunder into Orochimaru's lair, where she was caught in a rope trap by a trio of shinobi, whom she bargained with for a chance to see Arashi.

She staged a mock battle to earn the trust of Naruto and Sakura, who nursed her without realising the masked figure was a girl, then guided them and Jiraiya toward the hideout. Her plan to drug the group and hand them over collapsed when her captors revealed they meant to kill rather than capture, and she was knocked out defending against it. After Jiraiya talked her back from taking her own life over the failure, she slipped into the hideout anyway, saving Naruto from a flooding chamber and from a disguised enemy. Confronted at last with what Arashi had become, she chose to help defeat him, and afterward joined Hanzaki and the remaining Fuma to rebuild the clan.
