Comic-Con

Comic-Con is a yearly convention held around the United States, most often in San Diego or New York. Within the series it serves as the backdrop for a rare ordinary outing, drawing crowds of fans, cosplayers, and creators together under one roof.

During 2023, Mark Grayson and Amber Bennett spend a day at the convention and run into a crowd of Invincible cosplayers, which Mark finds thoroughly embarrassing. The two joke about staying forever, getting by on hot dogs and camping out in tents. They also cross paths with Filip Schaff, who talks with Mark about the trouble he is having on Seance Dog, admitting the project is running long and that the animation sometimes looks stiff, with one close-up of a major character coming out oddly janky.

The break does not last. Before long, Atom Eve approaches Mark and asks him to go find Rex, who has vanished, since she has other business to handle. The convention itself typically lands in summer or fall and fills its booths with special guests fans can question or photograph. Filip Schaff nods to reality as the actual writer of the Invincible comics.
