Family Reunion

Family Reunion is a brief but pivotal event in which Allen and Nolan come back to Earth to enlist both of Nolan's sons for the intergalactic fight against the Viltrum Empire. It stands as one of two events that mark the dawn of the Viltrumite War, the climactic struggle between the Coalition of Planets and the empire.

After reclaiming his old suit, Mark returns to the Grayson house and learns Debbie plans to sell it and move into a small apartment with Paul, while he and Oliver stay with them. He is upset at how soon it feels but accepts that she wants to move forward. On the roof, Eve tries to tell Mark she is pregnant, only to be cut off when Allen and Nolan abruptly arrive seeking his help. Nolan explains the looming Viltrumite War and the danger it poses to Earth, and though Mark is cold at first, he agrees to defend the planet. Against Mark's advice, Nolan visits Debbie that night to apologize, but she rejects him entirely, striking his chest and hurting her own hand, asking bitterly whether she is still his pet before ordering him out. Nolan also calls on Art, who keeps his composure while making clear that his account is closed and that he dresses only heroes, then breaks down once Nolan leaves.

The Graysons, Paul, and Eve gather for a final dinner before Mark and Oliver depart. Eager to join, Oliver recalls fighting beside Mark against the evil Invincibles and Conquest, and Nolan argues with Mark over the risk, relenting when Mark insists Oliver is no longer a child. Aboard the Venture, Nolan notices Tech Jacket boarding as well, and Telia launches the ship as Cecil and Donald watch it leave orbit, remarking that Earth is Viltrumite-free for the first time in over twenty years. Notably, Eve never manages to tell Mark about the pregnancy before he goes.
