Liberation of Conquest

Subtitled Viltrumite War: Origins, this overarching Season 4 event follows the aftermath of Conquest's beating at Invincible's hands. Rather than let the wounded Viltrumite die, the Global Defense Agency secretly locks him inside an underground Mojave prison, intending to interrogate him about how to bring down the Viltrum Empire once he wakes from his coma. It counts as one of three events that herald the Viltrumite War, the climactic struggle between the Coalition of Planets and the Empire.

After Conquest falls to Invincible and Atom Eve, Cecil presents the body to Mark and orders it burned, but the death is a staged deception. Recognizing both the peril and the intelligence value of a living Viltrumite, Director Cecil Stedman instead seals the gravely injured combatant inside the Block, a top-secret facility deep beneath the desert. The prison is rigged to detonate at the slightest movement, and GDA scientists study his genetics in search of a weapon or formula capable of killing his kind. Two weeks later, amid the final Sequid invasion, Conquest wakes fully healed and scoffs at how foolish the boy was to leave him breathing. He strolls out into deep space, taking no harm from the vault's blast, to Cecil's alarm. To avoid Invincible's fury, Cecil hides the escape from him, especially after Mark is forced to kill the Sequid-controlled Rus Livingston.

Free once more, Conquest returns to report his failed Earth mission. Reaching a Viltrumite warship, he approaches the throne heavy with dread. General Kregg strikes him and commands him to kneel before the Grand Regent, which he does at once, trembling and begging to be punished by the one Viltrumite mightier than himself. Thragg, however, still finds him useful and grants a reprieve, handing Conquest a fresh assignment tied to the Empire's war with the Coalition of Planets.
