When Levy Lurks

When Levy Lurks is a slow-burning minor event in which Angstrom Levy, thought defeated, resurfaces to spend several months watching Invincible and those close to him. Rather than strike outright, he observes, catalogues, and prepares, laying the groundwork for the far larger campaign that follows.

Nearly killed during his second confrontation with Invincible, Angstrom escapes by teleporting into a bleak dimension where strange technological surgeons patch him back together. Working alongside the Technicians there, he builds floating drone orbs and uses them to keep a constant eye on his enemy. For the opening months of 2024, Invincible enjoys a rare stretch of calm, unaware that a hidden lens is trained on the Grayson household as Mark and his younger brother Oliver play catch.

Angstrom seeds more drones through Mark's life, spying as William and Rick talk over relationships, as Invincible meets Eve on a rooftop for reassurance about his tangled roles, and as Debbie presses Oliver on his cold view of humanity before the family embraces. Mark spots one of the orbs in the bushes, snatches it, and it destroys itself. He carries the wreck to Teen Team, where Robot cannot trace its maker, and Invincible wrongly pins the surveillance on Cecil, storming the agency only to be subdued by sonic frequency emitters. Cecil denies any part in it.

Undeterred, Angstrom continues to watch and expands his plan, tracking down eighteen separate versions of Invincible across the multiverse. He frees and wins over these doubles with rewards once thought impossible, from summonable armies to restored loved ones and fresh enemies to fight. When the real Invincible sinks into despair after a brawl with Powerplex, Angstrom judges the moment perfect, rises from his chair, and turns to face his gathered ranks of menacing Invincibles.

With his army finally standing behind him and his target emotionally broken, Angstrom grins and prepares to set his true plan in motion. The months of quiet watching give way directly to the far more destructive campaign that becomes the Invincible War.
